Red 8 Bistro
I think that Red 8 is one of the most underrated and undervalued eateries in Las Vegas. This Chinese restaurant located next to the casino at the Wynn hotel is one of my favorite restaurants in the whole world. No exaggeration! I actually think about it quite often and wish I could eat there on a regular basis (which I cannot since I don’t live in Las Vegas.)
The decor is beautiful, but since it is located next to the casino it is noisy. The restaurant is quite open and connected to the casino, not having any windows or doors between it and the casino. I really like the atmosphere. I get to watch all the people walk by and I really feel like I’m in Vegas which is where I want to be since I came there in the first place.
The food is very good. I have eaten there once for dinner, but I usually go for Dim Sum (chinese for small plates) between 11:30and 3 in the afternoon. This is by far my favorite food and I think the prices are quite reasonable for the amount of food and the quality you get. Remember, you are in Las Vegas where everything costs money. The prices of Dim Sum will range anywhere from $3 to $7 for a small plate. This is not traditional Dim Sum in the sense that you get the food minus the chinese women pushing the carts in front of them and trying to push food on you that you don’t know what is. I don’t particularly like that part of Dim Sum and at Red 8 you get to choose your items from a regular menu. You can also order from the regular lunch menu during the day. There are three items I just love at Red 8 and that I always order. Those are the Steamed Custard Buns (really a dessert), Panfried Rice Noodles with XO-sauce, and the Panfried Chive and Shrimp Dumplings. My husband loves a million other items, but I always order my usual three. I highly recommend trying the Dim Sum for lunch. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it.
