Extraordinary Desserts in San Diego

I got one word for you. Yummy! Delicious desserts, sandwiches, appetizers, teas, coffee, wine, and other fingerfoods. Years ago, we had gone to Extraordinary Dessert’s Hillcrest location, but had to wait in awful lines to get a table. Then all of a sudden, we discovered their rating in Zagats as one of the most top-rated restaurants in San Diego, and that they now have a second location. Boy, do we feel that we have missed out. After going there, and discovering their beautiful restaurant on Union Street between Little Italy and downtown and salvating over the snacks that we simply were too full to try, we are as of now rating this as our favorite restaurant.

The food that is served there is just the kind of food we like to eat. Appetizers and desserts made out of the absolutely best ingredients. They have an enormous selection of teas, and I just love their coffee. The restaurant is open from early morning to late evening for exactly what we like to eat-snacks! The wait staff is just wonderful. We have in the last few days been there two times, and everytime we have just encountered wonderful waitresses. We were wondering where this restaurant is finding their staff? We wanted to go there again today, on the 1st day of this new year, but they were closed. That was simply a tragedy.

Some of the items that we have tried over the last few days were the Old Fashion Onion Dip ($7.5), Karen’s Australian Dukkah ($8), the Smoked Chevre Bruschetta and the Cashel Blue Bruscetta (one $3.5 or two $6.5), Cobb Salad ($16), the Goat Cheese Panini ($10), Passion Fruit Napolean, the Strawberry Scone, the Lion Kona Vanilla Macadamia Nut Coffee ($3), the Passion Fruit Presse ($5), and the Kiwi Lemonade ($5.) Most of the items could be split between two or more people. “The Cobb Salad looked like it could feed 4 people:” says Michael who weighs 230 pounds (or 235 after Christmas.)

Please see a few pictures of some of the wonderful food that we tried. Be warned, the portions are Ginormous.

It makes me sad that I don’t have a kiwi lemonade and a panini in front of me right now. Oh how I wish they had been open for New Years Day.
