Golden Spoon Frozen Yogurt!

I think I’m addicted. I discovered this ice-cream joint inside the Ralph grocery store in my neighborhood. I had noticed it for years because I always saw a long line there. I haven’t really been interested in it, because I assumed it was ice-cream and I assumed it had a lot of calories, but more importantly I assumed that it had a lot of artificial ingredients and preservatives. I was wrong. I decided to try it last week when it was a hot day outside. I just wanted something to cool off. I had a prelimanary taste first. I tried the Vanilla version. It tasted just like ice-cream and it turned out to be frozen yogurt. It was delicious. I bought a mini which is about 4 oz. with chocolate chips. The best part besides the taste was the number of calories. I noticed a sign posted that said 17 calories per oz. I didn’t believe it. That meant a mini had only 68 calories. ????

That’s not counting the toppings. I actually was in disbelief so I decided to go online and check out the Golden Spoon website to verify the calories. It turns out to be true, although, it is still hard for me to comprehend. A mini is actually quite satisfying and it just seems weird that there would only be 68 calories in this frozen yogurt treat that tastes just like ice-cream. Even Ian thought so and he is a hard-core Haagan Daz connoiseur. From what I gather from the website, there also seems to be limited artificial ingredients and preservatives. Check it out!

I have been to the one in Calabasas (Los Angeles) and know fitness freaks (insufferable fitness freaks) who love the stuff. I’m sure it will be discovered later that they forgot to add some zeroes to their calorie calculations, but for the time being, indulge! Yummy stuff.

The calories are incorrect. I used to be an addict until I saw the LA Times articel where the yogurt was tested. 33 kcals/ounce…..

I’d like to “borrow” your pic of the Golden Spoon dessert with chocolate chips to use in an article. And maybe the shot of the wall menu, too.

May I?

I *MIGHT* be able to credit it to this site, depends on the final editors.

PLMK!
