Brockton Villa Restaurant in La Jolla
On Coast Boulevard in La Jolla, right above The Cove (which is a tiny, little, cute beach in La Jolla) is a restaurant called Brockton Villa. It is situated in an old bungalow which is probably 100 years old. We have been there several times for breakfasts and lunches.
It is one of my favorite places to go on a weekday (on the weekend it is very busy) to have breakfast. You may sit on the patio which is overlooking the cove which is wonderful on a warm summer day, or inside by the fire-place which is very nice on a chilly winter-day (well, chilly by California standards.) If you are choosing to sit on the patio, you’ll have the choice of sitting where there is no coverage from rain or wind, but you’ll have heat lamps next to you. If you choose the balcony, there is protection from the elements, but there aren’t any heat lamps.
Breakfast is served until 11:30 AM and Lunch is served from 11:30 AM; If you arrive a little before 11:30 AM, you will have the choice of either breakfast or lunch. Coast Toast is for what Brockton Villa is famous. It is French Toast with a hint of orange. I like the Greek Steamers, which are scrambled eggs (steamed), fresh basil, feta cheese, tomatoes, potatoes and your choice of toast. Brockton Villa also has a wide range of coffee drinks. The Blanco y Blanco is my favorite, which consists of a few shots of espresso, steamed milk, and white chocolate. The restaurant is also open for dinner.
This is a wonderful place to go if you want to relax and watch the waves break at the Cove while you eat. It is also a fun to sit and watch all the swimmers that are braving the cold water in the winter and are swimming distances without wet-suits. I highly recommend this place because the view is amazing. There are not many restaurants in California, where you’ll have a view of the ocean like you will at Brockton Villa.

Make sure to go on big surf days. It can be spectacular to watch! The best days to go are when the weather is garbage, and the waves are big! No crowds to get in, and the best show in town.
