I love Sushi Roku

I love Sushi Roku. I am a fine connoisseur of sushi. I love sushi. I would eat sushi every day if I could. Sushi Roku in Las Vegas is the best Sushi Restaurant in the world. O.K at least of the ones I have been to. A very close second is Sushi Ota in San Diego. Sushi Ota probably beats Roku by a very slim margin on the food, but if you take into account food, décor, ambiance, view, character, management, the restrooms, and everything else, Sushi Roku wins.

The décor is out of this world, literally. It is modern Japanese with a little touch of L.A. The view is par excellance. From the main dining room you have what I consider to be the best view of the strip in Vegas. It is truly magnificent, and I won’t give the whole view away. If you are in Vegas in the summer, you must, must, must go there and ask to sit by the window. Even if you go in the winter, you should ask to sit by the window when you make the reservation. One of you will be treated to a great view of the restaurant, and the other to the strip at its best.

The food is unbelievable. All of the sushi is great, and priced the way you would expect them to be at a sushi restaurant in a regular town. The vegetable tempura is outstanding, and they allow you to pick which vegetable you want when you order. For example yesterday, I ordered two pieces of broccoli and two pieces of onion tempura. I like that kind of control when ordering.

If you like Dynamite, which is an appetizer of cooked fish with a creamy sauce, then order it at Roku. Watch carefully when it arrives, because the sea weed flakes undulate as if they were still underwater.

If you are an experienced sushi eater, watch their specials for rare imports from overseas. I have had excellent fish flown in from Spain and Japan at Sushi Roku that I had never eaten before. The chefs also come up with some exotic combinations on the specials that can be anywhere from good to perfection depending on the individual item.

Happy Hour is a bargain. They have Happy Hour daily, however, the time changes depending on whether it is the weekend or not. You can order from a list of about 20 items off the main menu at half price. All of them are absolutely top notch. Ask to be pointed to the lounge. There are couches, and low tables and a fantastic view of the strip. Then you can sit and eat at bargain prices in comfort away from the crowds, and marvel as I did yesterday that the ambiance is as good as it gets at a fraction of the cost of other restaurants in Las Vegas that serve extremely high quality food.
